Pierre-Yves Buquet

Born in 1969, a graduate of the Sorbonne with a Master’s in Geopolitics, Pierre-Yves Buquet spent fifteen years at the Ministry of Defence (now the Ministry of the Armed Forces). In 2006, he joined the Directorate for the Protection and Security of the State of the General Secretariat for National Defence (now SGDSN). In this position, he designed, led and organised the analysis of the major crisis management exercises dedicated to the training of the cabinets of the French Presidency of the Republic, the French Prime minister and the ministers. Starting 2010, he served as the adviser on international affairs to the Director for the Protection and Security of the State. In 2013, he became adviser to Gilles de Kerchove, the EU Counter-terrorism Coordinator. In 2016, he joined the French Presidency of the Republic as the adviser for international affairs to the National Intelligence Coordinator. He joined CIVIPOL in October 2018 as Strategy and Security adviser to the CEO, Préfet Yann Jounot.
